Synaesthetic Arts [SynArts, for short] is a non-profit, contemporary arts education corporation that encourages artists to create and display new work through our multimedia arts exhibitions.  SynArts was founded in 2005 as a response to the lack of opportunities for contemporary artists in Alabama.  Synaesthesia is a phenomenon in which one form of sensory perception stimulates experience in another sense.  Visual forms can be “heard” or sound can be “touched.”  This is an apt metaphor for our aim towards art that is collaborative, cross-disciplinary, employs new media or multimedia approaches, and is fresh, experimental, avant-garde and being made RIGHT NOW.  Since inception, SynArts has shown the work of over 75 contemporary artists, musicians, choreographers, writers, and filmmakers.
